The National Glass Centre (NGC) continues to be the subject of debate between the owners, University of Sunderland and Sunderland City Council with campaigners claiming there has been a “managed decline” of the NGC from the university.
The NGC will [as it stands] close on 31 July 2026 which is the reason these shots were taken. It remains a central community hub where people can meet, interact and witness ‘live glass blowing’.
