Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, Flying Scotsman 60103 was built by the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) at Doncaster Works in 1923.
The great locomotive’s legendary status has gone from strength to strength from 1938 when it ran a non-stop service from London to Edinburgh. In 1934 it also earned a place in the record books as the first steam locomotive to achieve an authenticated 100mph run on 30 November 1934.
