Some wonderful footage and shots of Simpson Street School following it’s miraculous renovation by Building Design Northern (BDN)…
The backstory of the school is of great significance and interest with its closure back in July 1961 signalling the way forward for industrial development.
Fast forward to 1994 and the building was awarded Grade II listing status but subsequently fell into a state of disrepair and was vandalised.
Prior to BDN purchasing the building, The Old School even suffered an arson attack, subsequently causing severe roof damage. The fire was concentrated around the central stair, which was essentially destroyed in its entirety.
BDN began the project in 2020, fully renovating and transforming the school into their head office and 8 beautiful loft apartments. The renovations are now complete, and the loft apartments are now available to book for short term stays.
Many of the Simpson Street School original features were retained to ensure the buildings Victorian character remained intact.
A wonderful transformation…
