Following my trip to Seaton Delaval Hall you can now have a framed, mounted print from any of the shots taken at this amazing stately home…
Seaton Delaval Hall is probably one of those ‘not on your radar’ ventures but this amazing stately home set in its own estate with lovely gardens, fine collections, quirky rooms and mischievous layout is well worth a visit.
The large house sits comfortably on the site of an ancient Norman settlement, and even boasts the original Norman chapel which remains in use today.
It was built between 1719 and 1730 for Admiral George Delaval and is one the finest houses in the north east of England, housing some of the outstanding works of its architect, Sir John Vanbrugh; one of the masters of English Baroque.
While the house has a chequered past, the last 900 years have certainly not been without drama and interesting anecdotes such as a fire that virtually saw it dissapear, military occupation and potential ruin.
Now, with its sealed roofing and glorious brickwork, it provides an amazing space for arts, Northumberland heritage and the community to visit and admire.
