I take a look at the incredible Red Cottage in Whitburn on my wander around the village…
The Red Cottage is an incredibly historic Grade II Listed period house on Church Lane adjacent to
Whitburn Parish Church, on an attractive wooded lane leading to and from Cornthwaite Park.
It was originally built in 1842 by the noted local architect, Benjamin Green who was given the brief to create a building as as show house in Whitburn for a wealthy brickworks owner displaying a range of extravagant and ornate design features including detailed finials incorporating a cricketing
theme.
